Breakfast Casserole

Ingredients:

6 slices of bread, cubed

1 lb (450g) breakfast sausage or bacon, cooked and crumbled

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

6 large eggs

2 cups milk

1 teaspoon mustard powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Optional: chopped vegetables like bell peppers, onions, spinach, etc.

 

Instructions:

1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.

2. Spread the cubed bread evenly in the bottom of the baking dish.

3. Sprinkle the cooked sausage or bacon evenly over the bread, followed by the shredded cheese.

4. In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, mustard powder, salt, and black pepper until well combined.

5. If you’re adding vegetables, scatter them over the sausage and cheese layer.

6. Pour the egg mixture evenly over the ingredients in the baking dish.

7. Cover the dish with foil and bake for 45 minutes. Then, remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes or until the casserole is set in the center and the top is golden brown.

8. Let it cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
